Alder Ridge

Brand, Product

An English Vineyard soars to new heights.

Overview.

Alder Ridge Vineyard can be found on the borders of West Berkshire, nestled into the chalky slopes of the North Wessex Downs. With their 7 acres of vineyard, they’ve won international awards for their 2013 Blanc de Noirs and Classic Cuvée.

We were approached by Alder Ridge to help them launch their new ‘Non-Vintage’ Special Cuvée, producing new packaging and giving their brand identity a fresh new look in the process.

“We wanted to trial a brand new look, not normally found on English Sparkling Wine bottles. We were slightly nervous to begin with but as the new labels and logo developed, so did our confidence in the new direction we were taking, all thanks to Osc.”

Our solution.

We started by taking the signature element of their existing Alder Ridge identity - the kite (regularly found souring the skies over the Berkshire vineyard) - and stripped it back to produce an simplified silhouette.

We then produced a new Alder Ridge ‘Badge’ to illustrate each wine variety. The Badge layout remains consistent, with interchangeable details relating to the different products.

Finally, every element of the new label was surrounded by trails from the kite wings.

Typically, packaging for English Sparkling Wines are far more traditional, featuring detailed labels in earthy tones. The minimal approach to the new Alder Ridge identity and packaging helped the product stand out in a crowded market.

The brand achieved unprecedented sales over the festive period following the launch of the new identity - enough to raise a glass to!

Next steps

Following the launch of the new Special Cuvée, we’re working closely with Alder Ridge to apply the new brand identity to the remaining product varieties, including their Blanc de Noirs and Sparkling Rosé, and website.

Along with packaging and brand updates, we continue to support the Alder Ridge team with digital and print assets for their promotional activities in-store and online.

We may be biased but the Special Cuvée goes down a treat. Grab yourself a bottle (or two) at alderridge.co.uk
